A Cozy Winter Maternity Session in the Dandenong Ranges
When these two got in touch about their maternity session, they already had a clear vision in mind. Warm, cozy winter vibes. A flowing dress. Chunky knits. Movement, laughter, and something that felt like them, not anything overly posed or stiff.
After years of photographing maternity sessions across the Dandenong Ranges, I’ve found a handful of hidden little pockets that suit almost every kind of vibe, from soft and romantic to wild and playful. This session leaned right into that cosy, relaxed feeling from the very start.
From the moment we started walking, it was obvious how excited they were to meet their little one. But even more than that, it was impossible not to notice how deeply connected they were to each other.
As a maternity photographer in the Dandenong Ranges, I always tell my couples that the photos are never really about standing still and smiling at the camera. They’re about remembering this exact season of life, the anticipation, the excitement, the quiet in-between moments before everything changes, because life leading up to a baby can feel full in every possible way. Appointments, to-do lists, nursery decisions, names, planning… it’s a lot. And sometimes you forget to pause and just be together in it. This session felt like that pause.
After I delivered their gallery, they told me something that stayed with me.
That the session had reminded them how in love they were with each other, that’s the kind of feedback that means everything to me.
